Volunteer opportunity to help with COVID-19 testing
Hello fellow CANAP members,
As many of you are aware, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had discussed how we as an organization could be active volunteers within our community to help positively impact our neighbors’ health and wellbeing. We were planning on volunteering at the Minority Health Fair in August; however, in light of the pandemic, the organizers of this event have decided to cancel the usual day long event in August. They are utilizing funds to offer services and support during the Pandemic and are in need of volunteer nurses to assist in providing free Covid testing at historically black churches in the Chattanooga area.
The UTC School of Nursing is continuing to partner with the Minority Health Fair to help fill a need and has established an electronic sign up for volunteers. If you are available on the scheduled days, please consider volunteering your time. The time requirements are 3 hours (10 am-1 pm). With restrictions being lifted and individuals going out more often, testing is essential. Volunteering will help you connect with members of our community, provide individuals with peace of mind, and help our health officials monitor the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
Testing is scheduled on the following Saturdays and Sundays:
June 13th/14th- Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church
June 20th/21st- Hawkinsville Baptist Church
June 27th/28th- Greater Tucker Baptist Church
Ideally, we would like for you to be signed up the Tuesday prior to the Saturday scheduled. If that deadline has passed and there are still openings, please go ahead and fill the need.
We sincerely appreciate any help that can be provided.
Thank you and stay safe!
