Chattanooga Area Nurses in Advanced Practice

February Meeting

Posted 5 months ago by Mary Jo Blanton

Please join us for our February meeting.   Tina Gerardi, Executive Director of TNA, will speaking to us on the impotance of political advocacy and how it ultimately impacts nursing practice, patient care and patient outcomes.  Advocacy is a hallmark of the nursing profession.  As nurses, we understand the impact of patient advocacy in the clinic or at the bedside; we need to remember or begin to consider how our political advocacy (or lack of) affects nursing practice and patient care.

In the most recent 2020 Gallup Poll, nurses were again ranked as the most trusted profession in the U.S.  Nurses have held this distinguished honor for 19 years in a row.  What a tremendous honor!  Nurses have a unique understanding of patient's and family's needs and are able to utilize evidence based practice to form patient-centered plans of care for improved outcomes.  Advance Practice Nurses have a good understanding of the current demands on the healthcare system and COVID has brought these issues to light in the general public.  Now is the time to utilize our knowledge, experience, reputation and platform to move things forward in Tennessee for our community and for nurses.
