Chattanooga Area Nurses in Advanced Practice

FNP Preceptors Needed

Posted about 1 month ago by Mary Jo Blanton

We are currently seeking Nurse Practitioners that would be willing to precept FNP students.

Nurse Practitioner Preceptors are critical for the education and clinical training of Nurse Practitioner students and future Nurse Practitioner providers.

Nurse Practitioner Preceptors function at the intersection of education and practice; where theoretical principles learned in the didactic class meet the reality of clinical practice.

Nurse Practitioner Preceptors use their expertise, clinical experiences and evidence-based practice to further narrow the gap between the knowledge of a bedside nurse, and the knowledge needed to function as an Advanced Practice Provider.

Preceptorships in appropriate clinical environments are imperative for Nurse Practitioner students to have the training and experience that will help them be practice-ready upon graduation.

Please consider precepting a student.  If everyone would volunteer a bit of their time throughout the year, there would be enough preceptors to meet our needs and this would prevent the same persons from having to consistently precept.  Please consider paying it forward.  Remember these students will be our future colleagues and will representatives of our profession.  Right now it is up to us to make sure they are getting the clinical experience needed during their training.

If you are interested in precepting OR have any questions about precepting, please contact me or Megan England to discuss further.  Contact information is provided below.

Sincerely,

Mary Jo Blanton, APRN, DNP, FNP-BC
